Potter and Teacher
Michelle fell in love with pottery the first time she sat down and bent over a wheel. “There’s just nothing like it,” she said.
I make pots because I love clay and I love making things. I am intellectually and emotionally driven to understand and to create. My favorite childhood memories are of time spent with my Dad making things. He is a scientist, so we made radios and magnets, lovely concrete tangible objects that functioned. As a student I studied the why of things. Why did people do things, and how we understand what they did. Eventually, my love of understanding and making merged into creating pottery. I am fortunate enough to own a delicious old light filled barn that easily converted into a pottery studio. In June 2014, High Street Studios opened as a place of making in Hingham, MA.
I also teach ceramics at private schools in Lexington and Hingham.
